Plant Biology Congress Freiburg 2012

jointly organized by FESPB and EPSO

July 29 to August 3, 2012 at the University of Freiburg

Plant Scientists in Europe are represented by two independent organisations. The FESPB (Federation of European Societies of Plant Biologists) is the umbrella organisation of 27 national botanical societies in Europe, representing more than 24.000 individuals and has in addition several corporate members from the European industry. The EPSO (European Plant Science Organisation) unites more than 220 research institutions and universities from 30 countries representing over 28.000 individuals and over 2.800 personal members. In addition EPSO cooperates with national learned societies, and it has NGOs and companies as observers.

For the first time, both organisations have agreed to hold a joint Plant Biology Congress 2012 at the University of Freiburg, Germany. This congress will highlight all aspects of plant biology with special emphasis on the consequences of global climate change and on feeding the global world population. From July 29 to August 3, 2012 plant scientist from all over the world are cordially invited to meet in the “Green City” of Freiburg.

May 15, 2012 - Please keep in mind that abstract submission ends in one week. Abstracts submitted later than 23.59 CET on May 22 nd can not be accepted anymore.



March 13, 2012 - We are happy to announce that Hans Schlegel, Head of the European Space Agency Astronauts at the NASA Johnson Space center in Houston, accepted to hold a dinner speech during the conference dinner. Hans Schlegel spend missions in space in 1993 and 2008.



March 6,2012 - The first preliminary programme for the Satellite Meeting "Plants Biology in Space" is ready and available for download. All participants of the Plant Biology Congress are welcome to join the sessions.

February 21,2012 - Sarah Blackford from SEB will offer an interesting Carreer Workshop on Thursday, August 2nd in the evening

February 13, 2012- Mary Williams from the ASPB confrimed the Teaching Workshop that will be held on Thursday, August 2nd, 2012.

December 7, 2011 - Calls for support grants from EPSO and FESPB as well as the call for applications for the young scientist award from FESPB are online now. Please be aware of the deadlines for application!

November 21, 2011 -As the programme is confirmed the flyer can now be downloaded.

October 21, 2011 - Abstract submission is now open. We are looking forward receiving lots of interesting input! Please follow the instructions given in the submission tool.
